In the field of innovation, the activities have been intensified after the call of President of India in the capacity of Visitor of the University in February 2015 given in the meeting of Vice Chancellors of Central Universities.
The constitution and various activities of Innovation Clubs at HQs and Regional Centre level have been an important milestone in order to actively involve the innovator students for the incubation of their innovations.
The National Centre for Innovation in Distance Education (NCIDE) working in IGNOU is aimed at promoting the culture of innovation in the university.
In order to identify, recognize and nurture the innovators from amongst its stakeholders, NCIDE is making all-out efforts to reach all the stakeholders of the system.
Considering the students being the most important stakeholder of the system, the university has formulated a scheme for identifying and recognising the innovator students of IGNOU and instituted a "Student Innovation Award 2018" to be given every year to first three innovator students across the country.
According to Prof Manoj Kulshrestha, Director, NCIDE, "During the last few years, we have come to know that some of our students have developed good innovative products. We are sure that there would be many more such innovator students. Keeping this in view, IGNOU has initiated a scheme for identifying and awarding the innovator students of IGNOU every year".
Dr Oum Prakash Sharma, Dy. Director, NCIDE and Coordinator of the scheme informed that the award scheme is open for all bonafide IGNOU students with valid registration.
They need to submit their innovations in the prescribed Application Form available on IGNOU Website along with the notification of the award scheme.
The last date for receiving the entries from the students is September 30, 2018.
