IGNOU
IGNOU's International Division hosted a delegation from Ahlul – Bayt International University, Iran.
The four-member delegation was headed by Prof. Mansour Mir Ahmadi, Chancellor / President of Ahul – Bayt International University, Iran.
The IGNOU's team was led by Prof S B Arora, Vice Chancellor of the university along with Prof. Silima Nanda, Director, International Division. Dr. Jitendra Srivastav, Registrar IGNOU was also present in the meeting.
Prof Arora extended a warm welcome to the delegation and extended all the support that is required to have a mutual co-operation in the form of an MoU to work together.
He informed the delegation of IGNOU's international footprints with centers in Middle East. He reiterated university's commitment to helping spread open education.
The Iranian delegation expressed its desire to have a generic collaboration with IGNOU where they can have faculty exchange and student exchange programs.
They also expressed the desire to have workshops in Ahul – Bayt International University, Iran where experts from IGNOU could be invited for development of course material.
The delegation informed that as IGNOU is in the list of Science and Technology Ministry, Iran, the issue of equivalence would never be a problem.
Dr. Nanda gave an overview of the international operations of IGNOU and discussed the key points on framework of partnership for firming up the agreement between IGNOU and Ahlul – Bayt International University.
Vice Chancellor, IGNOIU appreciated the proposal made by the delegation.
Dr. Jitendra Srivastav, Registrar IGNOU in his vote of thanks discussed about the mutual relation between the two countries that has been prevailing since many centuries.
He specifically mentioned the influence of Persian language on Urdu which has many words of Persian origin.
