Father's name should not be mandatory for Degree Certificate, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka writes to HRD Minister Javadekar

Urging to alter rule which makes it mandatory for Father's name to  be mentioned on a student's degree certificate, Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has written to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to make provisions to change the guidelines.

According to PTI, the letter pointed breakdown of marriages and separation of spouses is a reality nowadays and rules must be formulated to reflect this.

“I have been approached by several women who are separated from their husbands and who face problems getting degree certificates issued for their children without their father’s name,” reads the letter written by Maneka to Javadekar.
