Delhi Nursery Admission 2019: Imposing upper age criteria, the Directorate of Education (Private School Branch) of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi is all set to start nursery admission process in the national capital from December this year.

While the nursery admission process in Delhi for session 2019-20 will commence from December 15, 2018, the application process will conclude on January 7, 2019. The admission process will complete by March 31, 2019.

However, the government has imposed an upper age limit for the children taking admission in nursery class for the upcoming academic year. The child taking admission in nursery will be below four years.  DoE will upload the criteria in the module of the department by schools on December 14, 2018.


While the Delhi government imposed the upper-age limit criterion for admissions to private schools in 2015, the order was challenged in the Delhi high court. The court upheld the government circular. However, there is no stay this year.

A look at last year's admission process
Application process started on December 27.

Last date for submission of forms in schools was January 17, 2018.

First list of selected candidates was released on February 15, 2018.

Upload list detailing marks given to each applicant was February 2, 2018

Second list of selected candidates was released on February 28, 2018.

Subsequent admission lists were released on March 15, 2018.

Admission process ended on March 31, 2018.

In a bid to provide quality education, the Delhi government had earlier decided to introduce a new type of school named School of Excellence in the national capital.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisoida said these schools would impart education through English language and the admission process for nursery to class five and, Class nine and 11 would start from next year.
