The army is holding recruitment rallies in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir to fill 1305 vacancies in the Territorial Army, a defense spokesman said here on Tuesday.
"The rallies are being held in Poonch, Doda, Reasi, Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara and a large number of aspirants today turned up for them," Udhampur based defense spokesman Col S D Goswami said.
"The rallies that began from Tuesday will fill up 1305 vacancies for the entire Jammu and Kashmir, without Kargil and Leh district," he said.
He said the rallies have been planned by the Army in consultation with civil administration.
"Army has established assistance booths in the rally sites. There have been reports that many youths from different districts turned up at the sites, though their districts have been earmarked for different dates," he said.
He said recruitment in Territorial Army is being held under the aegis of northern command with vacancies of soldier general duty, clerks, store keeper technical, surveyor and tradesmen.
More than 5000 aspirants turned up at each rally site during the morning hours, he said.
There were also reports of stone pelting at a rally by youths who were rejected during the recruitment process.
"There have also been reports that few of the candidates who were rejected during the recruitment process have resorted to stone pelting which resulted in some problems at the sites," he said.
