Air Force Common Admission Test, AFCAT is conducted twice a year mainly in February and August across India by the Indian Air Force. As per the report, this year, a total of 334 vacancies shall be filled through AFCAT Entry, NCC Special Entry & Meteorology Entry. The official announcement for AFCAT 2021 July session is yet to be released by the Indian Air Force.


The selection of the candidates completely based on their performance in AFCAT written examination, the officer’s intelligence rating test and picture perception and discussion test, psychological test group tests and interview (5 days AFSB).

AFCAT 2 Notification 2021 Important Date:

● The online application process is likely to begin on June 1, 2021,

● The deadline for the application process is on June 30, 2021.

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria:

● Graduation with a minimum of 3 years degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks is required.

● For Flying Branch, a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level is a must.

● Or BE/B Tech degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 60%.

● Candidates applying for AFCAT-2 2021 must be below the age of 25 years.

● Candidates must be unmarried at the time of comment

Age Limit:

It varies as per the branch. Here is a brief detail of the age limit and relaxation:

● Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Entry): 20 – 24 years as of January 1, 2021.

● Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical): 20 – 26 years as of January 1, 2021.

● The DOB accepted by the IAF is entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University.

Marital Status:
● Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.

● Widows/ Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible.

AFCAT Selection Process: The selection process of AFCAT 2021 consists of 2 stages such as the AFCAT written test, and the Personality test.

Stage 1: AFCAT Written Test

● The intellectual test consists of objective type questions conducted in 104 locations.

● IAF will prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Online AFCAT as fixed by the IAF at their discretion.

● Candidates who are declared successful in the Online AFCAT will be called at one of the Air Force Selection Boards.

● Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry and Meteorology Branch will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centres.

Stage 2: AFSB interview

● In this stage, candidates must be mentally as well as physically fit as per the specified standards of authorities. The interview continues for 5 days.

● AFSB centres are at Dehradun (1 AFSB), Mysuru (2 AFSB), Gandhinagar (3 AFSB), and Varanasi (4 AFSB).

● Candidates who opt for the flying branch can only opt for Dehradun, Mysore, and Varanasi.

● Candidates are required to choose the AFSB date and venue by themselves on the official website of AFCAT. or https://afcat.cdac.in in order to generate calls- up letter for AFSB interview.

Final Selection:

● Candidates should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in written examination and AFSB test as fixed by the IAF.

● The qualifiers’ names will be placed in the order of merit on the basis of the total marks secured by them in the written examination and in the AFSB tests.

● The form and manner of communication of the result of the examination to individual candidates will be decided by the IAF at their discretion.

● 10% of the vacancies are reserved for NCC Air Wing Senior Division 'C' certificate holders in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) Branches.

● Allotment of PC/ SSC in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) Branches would be based on a number of vacancies, performance in the selection process, and the choice given by the candidates.

Physical requirements:

● The minimum height requirement for flying branches is 162.5 cm, with leg lengths ranging from 99 to 120 cm. Candidates must not be colourblind or wear glasses.

● Visual acuity is a term used to describe the ability to see clearly (min) Vision from afar (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/18, myopia of less than minus 5.5 D including astigmatism

● A candidate must be in good physical and mental health, and free of any disability that would interfere with the efficient performance of duty, in order to be passed as fit.

Employment Opportunities:

● After successfully completing training, candidates are promoted to the rank of Flying Officer and are entitled to the rank's pay and allowances.

● The Air Force provides excellent career opportunities, though they vary by branch.Each higher rank brings with it more emoluments.

● Higher ranks, from Wing Commander and above, are awarded through selection.

● Officers have a good chance of advancement.

AFCAT 2021 Application Form: The application form for AFCAT 2021 will be available in online mode only. The AFCAT II 2021 application form will tentatively start in the month of June every year.

The step by step AFCAT registration cum application process is mentioned below.

● Go to the official career website of the Indian Air force.

● Click on the Candidates login section.

● A new web page will appear. Fill in the registration details asked for new users like the name; e-mail ID, mobile number, etc.

● Click on submit. A new AFCAT registration ID and password would be sent to the registered Email address.

● Note: It is to be noted that the candidate should keep their registered email id and phone number active, throughout the selection process.

AFCAT Application Form Filling:

● Fill in the details as per the directions are given on the webpage.

● Select the preference of branch, AFCAT Exam Center, Subject for EKT exam, etc.

● Upload Your signature and Photograph (as per dimensions provided in the notification).

● Click on submit.

AFCAT Application Fee:

● After filling the online form, the exam fee of INR 250 has to be made through the ‘Make Payment’ step in the main menu.

● This fee is non-refundable.

● The examination fee can be paid using credit/ debit cards/ net banking through the payment gateway.

How to download AFCAT Admit Card:

● Step 1: Visit the AFCAT official website and click on the 'Candidate's Login'

● Step 2: On the screen, the login page will appear, and enter your credentials to log in.

● Step 3: The AFCAT admit card will appear on the screen.

● Step 4: Download it and take a few prints for exam use.
