As many as 3,000 athletes representing 36 teams, will take part in the 61st National School Athletic Championship-2016 commencing from 29 January.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will declare open the championship at Olympian Rahman stadium at Kozhikode Medical College.
The championship is organised by the Directorate of Public Instruction, Kerala, under the auspices of the School Games Federation of India.
Besides athletes, 500 officials will be part of the contingents from the states and also teams of IPSC, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya.
Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the valedictory function in the evening on February 2.
