16 Indian Institutes ranked in  BRICS &  Emerging Economies Rankings 2016
In the latest rankings of the Times Higher Education of BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2016, there's 16 Indian Universities which have secured place in the list of top 200 Universities. The leading Indian Institute among top 200 institutes is Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru at 16 position. A total of 16 Indian institutes have secured place in top 200 listing as compared to 11 institutes last year.

Other than IISc Bangalore 7 IITs have also made it to the list – IIT Bombay (29), IIT Madras (36), IIT Delhi (37), IIT Roorkee (48), IIT Kharagpur (45), IIT Guwahati (83) and IIT Kanpur (95).

THE BRICS 2016 Rankings also include the following Indian Universities in it's list-Jadavpur University, Panjab University, Aligarh Muslim University, Andhra University, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi and Savitribai Phule Pune University. Apart from these public Universities a private one – Amrita University also made it to the list, ranking at 181. It was seen that most of the ranked universities have improved their rankings from the last year’s positions. It was very Surprising that one of the most deserving university from India Jawaharlal Nehru University was missing from the rankings, it was ranked at 71 position last year.

China's Peking University has topped the list, and 5 other universities from China have also made it to the top 10 BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings, 2016.
