For encouraging adolescent girls in rural areas to take up higher education, Haryana government has announced a new scheme under which it will honour girls who secure top three positions in state board examinations.
The ''Adolescent Girls Award'' will be given to six girls securing the top three spots in matriculation and senior secondary exams, an official spokesperson said here today.
The award will carry prize money of Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1000 for matriculation, and Rs 3,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,000 for senior secondary examination, he added.
