Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said his government would distribute tabs among diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate students of technical courses belonging to Scheduled Caste category.
Stating this here today, a Technical Education Department spokesman said the move would facilitate the SC students to have access to IT world and also attract them to pursue technical education.
He said the tablets would be provided to SC students of government, government-aided and private technical institutions approved by the Haryana State Board of Technical Education or AICTE.
The spokesman said the tabs costing Rs 4,000 each would be given to about 45,000 SC students presently enrolled in diploma, under-graduate or PG technical courses of all batches. It would cost about Rs 18 crore during the financial year 2014-15.
