Ramjas college wins inter college debating competition
Akshay Labroo and Nikhil Saha of Ramjas college were on Thursday declared winners of the Great Delhi University Inter College Debating competition.

The competition, organised by Delhi University and British High Commission, saw the participation of 46 colleges in the competition.

The theme of the debate was "This house believes that it is the best time to be young".

The winning duo was awarded with a one week sponsored tour to United Kingdom including visits to historical sites, academic institutions, cultural events and peer group interactions.
A visit to the UK Parliament and Virgin Atlantic airlines is also planned.

Sri Venkateswara, Dyal Singh, Miranda House and Janki Devi Memorial college were the teams that made to the final round of the competition.

Marcus Winsley, Director, Press and Communication, British High Commission stated that the objective behind the event was to celebrate a culture of debating prowess.

“The aim of the event was to celebrate and encourage debating prowess and offer opportunity for informed discussion amongst the student fraternity,” he said.

Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, Delhi University and Sir James Bevan KCMG, British High Commissioner were the distinguished guests at the event.

A similar event will be organised at St Xaviers college in Kolkata on January 21.
