Fulfilling the promise of providing education grant to girl students in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government today distributed cheques worth Rs 4.98 crore to 1,660 girls under the Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme.
“There would be no dearth of funds for girls who are desirous of completing their education,” Minister of state for Civil Defence, stamp and court fee and Minister Incharge of the District, Durga Prasad Yadav said.
The UP government would also send Rs 5.63 crore to be distributed among 1,878 girl students desirous of getting better education, Yadav added.
The Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme was launched for girl students belonging to families which could not afford their education, he said.
“There would be no dearth of the funds for welfare schemes of the poor. About 80 percent promises made during election have been fulfilled,” he added.
Meanwhile, speaking at the concluding function of athletic championship at the Saifai stadium in Etawah, the Chief Minister stressed on the quality education for youths.
“It is necessary that students get quality education and concrete steps are required to be taken in this direction to keep in sync with the rising level of competition brought by information technology changes in the education system”, Akhilesh said Our youth would move forward and take lead in the country only when the quality of education is improved, he stressed.
