The Indian Medical Association here has launched a series of lectures by experts to help students and junior doctors cope with psychological pressure, a knock-on effect of their recent face-off with the police.
"Students are in depression after the recent fiasco. Mental balance is imperative as they have to deal with people on a daily basis. Therefore, a lecture series is being organised to help them cope with stress,"IMA (Kanpur) president, Aarti Lal Chandani said.
This open-for-all lecture series will be delivered by psychologists, psychiatrists and management gurus to help students overcome mental pressure and return to normalcy.
The series, which includes lectures on behaviour therapy, psychotherapy, management relationship, public relations and media relationship, will help them deal with people, said Lal.
The hour-long classes are scheduled to continue till March 31.
Recently, doctors and teachers of medical colleges here went on strike to protest police action on 24 junior doctors and their subsequent arrest.
Students of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical (GSVM) college were allegedly beaten up by Kanpur police and supporters of SP MLA Irfan Solanki on February 28 following an altercation with him.
Counselling sessions are also being provided to the 24 junior doctors who were arrested in connection with the clash and were sent to jail, she said.
