Ambedkar College principal to be suspended
Delhi University Vice Chancellor Dinesh singh has approved the recommendation to suspend the Ambedkar College principal for allegedly abetting suicide of a former female laboratory assistant following sexual harassment, according to sources.

Principal G.K. Arora's suspension was recommended Friday evening by the college's governing body, which sent its inquiry report to the vice chancellor for approval and action.

The decision to suspend Arora was taken at the governing body meeting held in Haryana Bhavan, said a member.

The governing body includes faculty members of the college and government officials.

Pavitra Bharadwaj, 40, a former lab assistant at the college, set herself ablaze Sep 30 outside the office of the Delhi chief minister. She died Monday of burn injuries.

Bharadwaj alleged Arora sexually harassed her. The principal denied the charges.

Members from Delhi University Teachers Association, Delhi University and College Karamchari Union besides activists and members of Aam Aadmi Party had slammed Delhi Police for not taking action against the accused.
