6000 youths register in job mela
About 6000 youths from all over Nagaland have registered themselves on the first day of the Job Orientated Skill Development Mela which started today at the Agri Expo Site, Dimapur.

The State Government under department of Employment and Craftsmen Training partnering with Confederation of India Industries (CII) in collaboration with the Government of India under Ministry of Labour and Employment is holding the two-day Job Mela, with 54 companies from all over the country providing training to the participants at the mela.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the 21st Century belongs to the youth since the youth are in forefront everywhere, actively working in every field except in Europe.

Rio said government jobs have reached the saturation point but many elders and youths are searching for jobs that are not available. Deputy Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indrani Kar in her keynote address said that the North Eastern Region has been the focus area for development efforts for several years now.

She mentioned that the key intervention areas of CII are Value addition and developing market linkages for indigenous products such as Agriculture, Crafts, Tourism, Youth Empowerment and Skill Development and also promote the Look East Policy to enable the region to become the bridgehead.

Kar said that CII has been promoting the concept of vocational Training as the new Vista of career opportunities with the youth, and the key concern of CII is to develop skill with the emerging requirements of industry and business. She also highlighted on how CII intervene in the skill development process.
