Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has doubled the number of scholarships it gives to underprivileged students and has awarded scholarships to 180 of them today.
The students were given a total of Rs 20.83 lakh in cheques at a function and would award scholarships to 20 more students at a later date.
RSP is committed to attain inclusive growth in the region in and around Rourkela and education is the most important aspect which has to be taken care of in order to achieve this goal, said plat CEO, G S Prasad said addressing the gathering here.
Under the RSP scholarship scheme underprivileged meritorious students from peripheral villages and resettlement colonies in and around Rourkela are provided scholarship of Rs 1000 per month for pursuing higher secondary and secondary education and Rs 900 per month for those pursuing primary education, company sources said.
