JoSAA Counselling 2023 IIT NIT Admission: During the admission process of 116 engineering institutes, including IITs and NITs in the country, a new problem has arisen for the students. With the first seat allotment of JoSAA counselling, thousands of students are facing difficulties because they have been allocated a college but are unable to complete the verification process due to the lack of their original mark sheet from the respective board. However, the last date for online reporting of JoSAA counselling is 5 pm on July 4.
Engineering Career Counsellor Amit Ahuja stated that a large number of students have been facing difficulties in the online reporting process of JoSAA counselling. Students have identified two major reasons for this. The first reason is the non-release of the top 20 percentile of the respective 12th board. Students are confused about the eligibility criteria regarding board marks for admission. Students who have not achieved 75 percent marks in the board examinations but have been allotted seats are waiting for their top 20 percentile score.
JoSAA Counselling 2023: Top 20 Percentile or 75% Score
This year, after three years, the board eligibility for admission in IITs, NITs, and IIITs has been set at 75 percent, or in the top 20 percentile. Some students expect that they will meet the eligibility criteria by scoring in the top 20 percentile of the board exams. However, currently, these students are facing an admission crisis.
JoSAA Counselling 2023: 12th Board Marksheet Not Released
Ahuja mentioned that, in addition to this, students are consistently facing the issue of the non-release of the 12th board mark sheet. Students state that the mark sheet is being requested during the document verification process. If the mark sheet is not issued by the board, the online mark sheet is not considered valid, which causes delays in the admission process. Students have requested the concerned board issue the mark sheet as soon as possible to ensure smooth admissions. Many prominent boards in the country, including Rajasthan, are involved in this discrepancy.
JoSAA Counselling 2023: Top 20 Percentile of These Boards Unreleased
Ahuja mentioned that the top 20 percentile scores of three major boards—Rajasthan, West Bengal, and the Open School Board - have not been released for admissions in NITs and IIITs across the country. Meanwhile, out of the 21 boards considered for admissions in IITs, AMU, Banasthali, Cambridge, Chhattisgarh, Dayalbagh, Jammu-Kashmir, Jamia, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, West Bengal, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Rajasthan, and West Bengal, the top 20 percentile scores have not been released.
JoSAA Counselling 2023: What to Do in This Situation
