DU Admission 2024: Tie-Breaking Rule

If two or more candidates have the same CUET score for a specific programme and college combination, the university will apply the following tie-breaking criteria:
  • Preference will be given to the candidate with a higher percentage of aggregate marks in the best three subjects of Class 12.
  • If the tie persists, the candidate with a higher percentage of aggregate marks in the best four subjects of Class 12 will be given preference.
  • Next, preference will go to the candidate with a higher percentage of aggregate marks in the best five subjects of Class 12.
  • If needed, the candidate with an earlier date of birth (as recorded in the Class 10 certificate) will be given preference.
  • Finally, if all else is equal, candidates will be prioritized based on the alphabetical order of their names.
  • In the first admission round for DU's UG programmes, 65,843 students secured seats. By midnight on August 21, 18,478 candidates chose the 'freeze' option to consider their allotment, while 43,515 opted for seat upgradation.
  • This year, DU aims to fill 71,600 seats across its affiliated colleges. Admissions are being conducted through the CSAS portal, which consists of three phases: phase 1 for registration, phase 2 for filling in course and college preferences, and phase 3 for seat allocation.
