Professor Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, a researcher in Bio-informatics, was on Friday appointed as the Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir.
"Governor of J&K, N N Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, has appointed Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi as Vice Chancellor for a period of three years from the date he takes charge," an official spokesman said.
Andrabi is presently Director, Research, at University of Kashmir. Andrabi is a well-known researcher in Bio-Informatics.
After obtaining his MSc degree in Biochemistry from Kashmir University, he obtained a doctorate from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.
He has also worked as Post doctoral fellow at Tuft''s Medical School, Boston, USA, as well as Department of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, USA. He has served as Associate Professor in the Department of Bio-Chemistry and as Professor and Chairman, Department of Bio-Technology, University of Kashmir.
The Governor has expressed the hope that with his taking over as the VC, a strong push will be given to the research and academic activities in the University, the spokesman said.
