The National Board of Examinations will conduct the All-India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) for admission to 50 pc quota of MD/MS/PG Diploma courses offered at Government Medical Colleges /Institutions except Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The AIPGMEE 2014 will be held as a computer-based test by NBE from November 25 to December 6, 2013 at 70 test centers in 38 cities across the country.
The governments of Haryana, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and University of Delhi will utilise the results of All-India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination 2014 for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in medical colleges under their control. These states will not be conducting any state entrance examination of their own, a NBE statement said.
It said admission to MD/MS/ PG Diploma courses at institutes under Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMC) will also be made on the basis of results of AIPGMEE 2014.
The Supreme Court has approved the engagement of National Board of Examinations (NBE) and the schedule for examination while disposing of an interim application moved by the central government and National Board of Examinations in this regard.
NBE Executive Director Bipin Batra said "the examination will be of 3 hours and 30 minutes duration. In addition, 15 minutes of test tutorial time will also be given and the test comprises of 300 multiple choice questions spread across different subjects of MBBS curriculum and there shall be no negative marking.
He said registration for the test shall be online and pre-paid test fee vouchers would be available at 279 branches of Axis Bank across the country with effect from October 24, 2013.
Registration and Scheduling for the test can be undertaken online starting October 26, 2013 from 9:30 am onwards. The last date for registration is November 13, he said.
The Supreme Court, while disposing of the petition moved by the Centre and NBE, said "we deem it proper to accept the prayer made in the applications and direct that the National Board of Examinations shall conduct All India Entrance Examination for Post Graduate Medical Courses for 50 pc All India Quota seats in government Colleges and the colleges established and/or managed by single page format.
