The schedule for the undergraduate and postgraduate entrance examination has been released by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
The schedule has been released on the official website.
B.Design, B.F.Tech, M Design and MFM programmes are courses offered by the National Institute.
For shortlisting the candidates, NIFT conducts Creative Ability Test (CAT) and GAT (General Ability Test).
Important Dates
October 22, 2018: Online registrations begin, Candidates interested to apply can register themselves.
The registration process started from October 22, 2018.
December 28, 2018: Online registration process ends on his date, candidates need to fill in the applications before December 28, 2018.
January 3, 2019: Candidates who fail to register themselves can apply till January 3, 2018 but with late fees.
December 29, 2018: The candidates who applied can make changes if required from this day.
January 3, 2019: The window to edit application form closes on January 3, 2019.
No more corrections will be done after this.
January 10, 2019: Admit card for the candidates who applied for the exam will be released on this date.
January 20, 2019: The day of the Written entrance examination.
February/March, 2019: The results of the examination will tentatively be declared in the month of February or March.
February/ March, 2019: Situation Test/ GD/ Interview, will also be scheduled in the month of February or March.
End of May/June, 2019: The result for the Situation Test/ GD/ Interview will be declared in the end of May or July.
Candidates who wish to apply for the exam can visit the official website and then create a login ID.
Then the details such as education certificates etc and pay the examination fees are to be submitted.
The selection of the candidates will be based on the merit list drawn as per the scores obtained by the candidates in SAT, GMAT, GRE exams.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The candidates who wish to appear for the examination should have at least 23 years of age as on October 1, 2018.
The upper limit relaxation of five years will be provided to the candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Person With Disability (PWD).
Educational Criteria
Bachelor Programmmes – Design – B.Des.
The candidates wishing to apply for the exam should have completed their Class 12 examination from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Education.
Even with a General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB) are also eligible to apply.
Bachelor Programme – Technology
The candidates wishing to apply for the exam should have completed their Class 12 examination from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Education.
Even with a General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB) are also eligible to apply.
More over the candidate who have got 3 or 4 years diploma in any branch of engineering from a recognized institute can also apply and appear for the exam.
For Master Programmes :
Age Criteria: There is no age limit for the candidates appearing for the entrance exam of Masters Degree.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Design
The candidates who are interested to appear in the exam should have an undergraduate degree in any discipline from any recognized institute UG Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Management
M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management):
The candidates should have an UG degree or diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Technology
M.F.Tech. (Master of Fashion Technology)
The candidates should have a B.F.Tech. Degree from NIFT or B.E / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognised by law in India.
