JEE Advanced 2014 exam schedule on May 25
The Joint Admission Board of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) on Thursday has officially released the schedule for JEE (Advanced) - 2014 for admissions to the IITs.

The JEE Advanced will be held on May 25, 2014, a week in advance as compared to last year. The board had earlier decided not to go for a computer-based JEE-Advanced 2014. Instead, aspirants will have a paper-pencil test. The test will include two papers- the first to be held from 9 am to 12 noon, and second from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The questions will be objective (multiple choice) type that will test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Conducted by the seven zonal IITs (under the directives of the Joint Admission Board) for admission to the undergraduate programmes in all IITs and ISM Dhanbad, only the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories) based on their scores in Paper-1 of JEE (Main)-2014 will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced)-2014. JEE (Main)-2014 will be conducted by CBSE on behalf of the JEE apex board on April 6, in both online and offline modes.

The paper 1 of the JEE Main will be held in both offline and online mode but paper 2 will be a pen and paper test only. The seven zonal IITs comprise of IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. The start of online application for JEE Main will begin from November 15 and end on December 16. The result of the JEE Main will be declared on May 3. The website for eligible candidates to register for JEE (Advanced) will open from May 4.

The registration process will end on May 9. During the same time, candidates will have to make payment for appearing for JEE Advanced. Candidates can download the admit card from JEE Advanced website, www.jeeadv.iitd.ac.in between May 10 and 24. The results of JEE Advanced will be declared on June 19. In UP, the test will be held in six cities - Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.

JEE Main is a gateway for admissions to NITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. It is also an eligibility test for the JEE Advanced, which is for admissions in IITs.
