IIMC India's top media trainning institute is all ready to become a Deemed University soon. I&B Ministry is in process of applying for Deemed University status for IIMC at the HRD Ministry.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry earlier was in plan of getting it the 'Institute of National Importance' status, but for now it's goal is to get the Institute accorded the Deemed University status.
At present IIMC awards only diploma courses in Journalism and Mass Communication, after getting the University status, it will become eligible to award bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as infrastructure and resources availability for research work would be created.
In a recent report of HT, IIMC director KG Suresh said, "We are in an expansion mode and this will help us prepare students for higher education and career options other than journalism, advertising and public relations."
