IGNOU offers course on dairy technology
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering a year-long distance course in dairy technology with effect from its upcoming academic session in July, a varsity statement said on Tuesday.

The distance learning programme has been launched in collaboration with the ministry of food processing industries.

"The main aim of the course is to inculcate clean milk production and processing, manufacture of western and indigenous dairy products, testing and quality control of milk and milk products," the statement said.

Although the duration of the programme is one year, candidates have the flexibility of completing it within four years. The medium of instruction is English as well as Hindi.

"The course fee is Rs 12,000. But the candidates interested from rural areas and candidates living below poverty line in urban areas can avail 50 per cent fee concession on submission of valid proof," the statement added.

The programme is open for candidates who have passed class 10 and 12. Those who have passed the Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU can also apply.

Aspiring students can obtain the form and prospectus from various regional centres for Rs 200.
