Himachal Pradesh Technical University on Sunday clarified that the decision of the government to hold separate entrance test for admissions to engineering courses would not undermine the merit of All India JEE (Joint entrance examination) and merit of JEE would continue to prevail in admissions.
The exam to be conducted by HPTU would only enable the left out students who could not appear in the JEE or did not come in merit to get admission and also fill the seats remained vacant in engineering and technical institutions, an official spokesman here said.

"The state is not ignoring the JEE and its merit would continue to prevail and it is clearly stated in the notification No- EDN(TE)F(10 2/2013) dated January 21, 2015," he said.
MBBS EXAM :

The notification had clearly stated that "on the basis of JEE (Main) examination for the corresponding academic year, in case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main), vacant seats will be filled up on the basis of Common Entrance Test to be conducted by HPTU, subject to fulfillment of minimum entry qualification prescribed by AICTE from time to time," the spokesman said.
