Compulsory NCC training in schools, colleges not feasible:Govt
The government has not found it feasible in terms of infrastructure and resources to make NCC training compulsory for school and college students, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said during Question Hour that if it is made compulsory, then nearly 4 crore youth will have to be trained against the 13 lakh being done now.

"Suggestions have been received from various sources for making NCC training compulsory for school and college students. However, it has not been found feasible in terms of requirement of infrastructure, manpower and resources," he said in a written response.

The National Cadet Corps came into being by an Act of Parliament in 1948.
