Girls outshine boys in JKBOSE class 12th results



    
Girls outshone boys in Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education class 12th results by bagging top slots in all streams.


The results of the examinations held last year were declared by the board late last evening and 53 of 67 positions have been bagged by girls, JKBOSE officials said.

Bushra Amin of Pampore town has secured first position with 489 marks (97.8 per cent).


As many as 51908 students- 28127 boys and 23781 girls- had appeared in the examination. Of these, 29684 qualified the examination and the overall pass percentage is 57 per cent, they said.


The qualified students include 15724 boys and 13960 girls, the officials said.
They said the boys bagged the second and third positions in Science and Commerce streams.


The first 10 positions in Science stream were shared by 23 students - 12 of them girls - while in Commerce, the first 10 positions were shared by 16 students, including 12 girls.


16 students - 15 of them girls - shared the first 10 positions in Arts stream, while in Home Science, 12 girls shared the first 10 positions, the officials said.


Of the total students, 7009 got distinction, while 12894, 8208 and 1573 secured first, second and third divisions respectively, they said.


Amin, a student of Muslim Educational Institute Pampore and a resident of Pampore town in south Kashmir, credited her teachers for the success, saying she wants to shine in every sphere of life.


"This is a small success in life. I want to shine in every sphere of life-social as well as professional. My first priority would be to see my parents happy," Bushra said.


"Coaching classes only helped me to complete certain portions of my curriculum but real supporters were my school teachers as they would treat me with affection like their own sibling," she said.
