List of School Holidays in September 2024
School Holidays 2024: The month of September includes various festivals and holidays. School students may be excited about these holidays as they might not have time for during regular school days to enjoy and get some rest. School holidays are scheduled based on the academic calendar and also depend on other factors such as the country, region, and educational institution.
Firstly, the students may note that this month has five Sundays and four Saturdays. Additionally, there are several holidays such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Hartalika Teej, Eid ul Milad, Vishwakarma Puja, and Pitru Paksha. Depending on the schedule of different institutions they may have holidays.
However, few common holidays are also observed in schools as instructed by the Central government. Some common holidays are mentioned below-
Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated widely in specific states across India. The festival is celebrated with much fare in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and others. Notification regarding the closure of school for Ganesh Chaturthi will be notified by authorities in the coming days.
Onam
Onam is an annual Hindu festival with origins in the state of Kerala in India. It falls in the Malayalam calendar month of Chingam. Onam starts on September 5 this year.
Eid e Milad
Milad-un-Nabi or Id-e Milad is an annual festival and holiday commemorating the birthday of Muhammad on the traditional date of 12 Rabi al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. In India, it is a gazetted holiday.
Thiruvonam
Onam commemorates the return of a mythical, righteous king – King Mahabali. Onam will commence on September 5 with Atham and culminate with Thiruvonam on September 15.
