Atishi Marlena Singh is a Delhi-based politician, educator, political activist, and member of parliament from Kalkaji. She will hold the position of Delhi's New Chief Minister. 


Atishi joined the AAP in 2013 and started contributing to the party's policy development. She played a key role in leading the education reforms in Delhi. 

She played a significant role in enhancing the state of Delhi government schools' infrastructure, establishing school management committees by the Right to Education Act, fortifying rules to prevent private schools from arbitrarily raising fees, and instituting the "happiness" curriculum. 

Atishi was born to Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi on 8 June 1981 in a family of Punjabi background. She was given the middle name 'Marlena' by her parents.

Atishi was raised in Delhi, where she completed her high school education at Springdales School (Pusa Road), New Delhi. In 2001, she earned her bachelor's degree in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. 

She then attended Oxford University, where she earned a Chevening scholarship and finished her master's in History in 2003. As a Rhodes scholar, she attended Magdalen College in Oxford in 2005.
