NEET (UG) 2018: Elaborated Arrangements to Conduct the Examination

As per the directives of Supreme Court of India, Medical Council of India Act and Dental Council of India Act, as amended in 2017, CBSE conducted NEET (UG) 2018 today at 2255 centres in 136 cities across the country.

The Board made elaborate arrangements to conduct this examination.

Following action were taken by the CBSE to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the NEET (UG) 2018:

1. More than 4000 observers were deputed across the country at centres to oversee the examination.

2. About 700 officials of the Board were deputed in all 136 cities to monitor the examination at local level.

3. For this examination, nearly 56000 rooms were arranged in 2255 centres.

4. Nearly 1,20,000 invigilators were deputed for these exams.

5. Candidates were informed about the rules and regulations, timings for the conduct of examination etc, everyday by sending SMS to individual candidate. Accordingly, nearly 1.33 crore SMS were sent to the candidates. Further, their parents were also communicated through various modes requesting them to ensure that their ward is following instructions issued by CBSE.

6. A Radio Programme was also organized to make the candidates aware about the last minute preparations and action to be taken by the candidates, so that they are reaching their centre on time.

7. A capacity building program through Web Radio was organized for all 2255 centres informing them about the preparations to be made at the centre.

8. Examination started on right time. It was observed this time that candidates were approaching the centres on time.

9. Frisking was done with the help of female and male guards and with the help of metal detectors.

10. Approximately 4% absentees were reported from the centres.

11. Examination was conducted very smoothly all over the country.

12. It was reported from 04 centres (one centre each in Assam, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal) that the examination was started late due to administrative reasons, however, in all these cases, extra time was given and all affected students were able to take the examinations.
