CBSE Bans ChatGPT: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday, issued a warning to students appearing in Class 10 and 12 board exams against using AI language models such as ChatGPT. The board has clarified that any use of such technology during the exams will be considered a violation of the code of conduct and will result in disciplinary action.
The official notice issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) reads, "Mobile, ChatGPT and other electronic items will not be allowed in the examination hall."
ChatGPT, a large language model developed by OpenAI, has gained popularity as a tool for generating human-like responses to text-based prompts. Students have reportedly been using ChatGPT to generate answers to questions during online exams, including mock tests and practice papers.
One of the main concerns with the use of ChatGPT during exams is the potential for cheating. Students who use such tools to generate answers to exam questions may gain an unfair advantage over their peers, undermining the integrity of the examination process and compromising the credibility of the results.
In conclusion, the CBSE's decision to ban the use of ChatGPT during board exams is a positive step towards ensuring the integrity of the examination process and preserving the value of education.
