Teacher Day 2022: UGC Announces Launching of  Several Research Grant and Fellowship for HEI

 In commemoration of Teacher's Days, University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that it will commence several fellowships and research Grant schemes. These schemes will help in the upliftment of Research initiatives in higher educational institutes. A total of 3 research grants and 2 Fellowship programs will be started by UGC. 

The Schemes will be launched tomorrow, September 5 at 3 PM on the official UGC YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitter handle.
 

Here is a List of all the Research Grants and Fellowship:

1. Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members    

This fellowship aims to provide research opportunities to superannuated faculty members. who are  at the level of Professors/Associate Professors. The Candidates applying for this fellowship can be up to 67 yr in age and must have successfully supervised the PhD dissertations of 10 full-time candidates, 3 of whom have received their degrees during the preceding 10 years. 

The applicant must also have handled, as Principal Investigator, at least 3 sponsored research projects funded by national/international agencies. 

This fellowship will be of Rs 50,000/month and will be available to 100 applicants for a tenure of 3 years. There will also be a Contingency of Rs.50,000/- per annum

2. Research grants for In-Service Faculty Members

This Research grant aims to provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members. The Applicant for this grant can be up to 50 years. 

The applicant must have a minimum of 10 years of service left in the University/Institution from the date of submission of his / her application. along with this they must have successfully supervised Ph.D. dissertation of 5 full-time candidates and completed at least 2 sponsored research projects funded by national/ international government or private agencies.     

The Research grant will be available for 200 applicants for a tenure of 2 years. The quantum of support under the scheme is Rs.10.00 Lakh. 

3 Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members    

This grant will avail research opportunities for Newly appointed Assistant Professors against permanent posts. The eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with minimum five research papers and the applicant has to have less than two years of service in the post

Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant is available for 132 candidates for a period of 2 years and the quantum of support under the scheme is Rs.10.00 Lakh. 

4.    Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship

This Post-Doctoral Fellowship is launched to provide an opportunity to carry out the advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities & Social Sciences including languages in Indian Universities/Institutions.    

Eligibility criteria for candidate 
a. Unemployed candidates with Ph.D. degree 
b. Below 35 yr (Gen); 40yr for reserved categories /women / transgender
c. Only first-time applicants for UGC PDF.
d. Minimum 55% of marks or equivalent at Postgraduate level; relaxation of 5% marks for reserved categories and transgender.
e. It is necessary that the candidate identifies a Mentor/Supervisor for his/her post-doctoral research work and obtain his/her consent for the mentorship.    

The Post-Doctoral Fellowship is available for  900 applicants (30% slots reserved for women candidates) for a tenure of 3 years. The fellowship in this scheme is  Rs. 50,000/-pm with a contingency of Rs. 50,000/-per annum 

5 Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child    

This fellowship aims to promote the education of single girl child and encourage them for pursuing research work leading to the award of Ph.D degree. There is no fixed limit of slots in the fellowship program. This fellowship has a total tenure of five years.

Eligibility criteria for candidate

Eligibility: Any single girl child pursuing PhD in any stream/subject in recognised universities/colleges/ institutes, who are registered in regular, full-time PhD programmes can apply for this fellowship. The candidates should be below 40 years (in the general category) and 45 years if they are applying from the reserved categories.
