As many as 76 schools around the state of Bihar have been ordered to close due to the Ganga River's rising water levels following heavy rain. These schools will stay closed until Saturday, September 21, 2024, according to the official announcement.

According to media reports, a number of blocks, including Athamalgola, Badha, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Sadar, Danapur, Fatuha, Patna Sadar and Maner, are affected and the schools lying in this regions will be closed.

The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rainfall is anticipated in ten areas over the next twenty-four hours. Both farmers and the general populace are advised to take necessary precautions. Numerous cities in Bihar are currently facing waterlogging due to the severe rainfall in the region.

In response to predictions from the Central Water Commission regarding further increases in water levels, the Water Resources Department has intensified monitoring efforts along the embankments.

Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, the Prayagraj District Administration has declared a closure of schools today, September 18, due to heavy rainfall. Both government and private educational institutions will suspend classes for students from Class 1 to Class 8, as stated in the official notification released by the Basic Education Officer of Prayagraj.

Puducherry 
The educational institutions in Puducherry catering to students from Class 1 to 8 were closed today due to a bandh called by the INDIA bloc. According to the Director of School Education circular, "Classes will be suspended on Wednesday, September 18 for Class 1 to 8 in all government and private schools in Puducherry. Class 9 to 12 will function as usual."
