Super 30 founder Anand Kumar addressed the recent controversy following the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants in a flooded basement at a coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar and said that famous teachers must come forward and speak on such incidents.

"As teachers, they should have spoken about the incident earlier and should address the issue now also. When you asked me to come and speak, it was my duty to speak. I'm not against anyone but I want to say this to everyone if you have made mistakes, then try to correct them. It is not justified to not accept your mistake. Anyone can make a mistake, but one should correct their mistakes and work according to the law," he said.

He also emphasised the importance of self-study and said that instead of taking admissions in the name of famous teachers, the students should focus on self-study.

"I want to send this message to the students that please take admission in any coaching institution carefully. The famous teachers don't need to be the only ones who teach nicely. So don't focus on the teacher's name or the results. check their contents.

Check which teacher can make you explain things better. Select the teachers with whom you can connect better. Don't rush with the crowd. I would also say to focus more on self-study. Once you master the process of self-study, no one can stop you from being successful," he said.

The Super 30 founder further pointed out that various coaching institutes misrepresent their faculties and urge central and state governments to establish a centre where students' concerns should be addressed.

"There are various coaching institutes that take admission in the name of a few famous teachers who don't even take classes there. Even if the teachers take the class, there are times when students do not understand the context. For all such issues, whether they are related to study or accommodation, a centre should be made up of the central and state governments so that students can share their complaints with them," he said. "Teaching in basements should be completely banned":

"Teaching in basements should be completely banned. The standards that should be in place for coaching centres regarding in how much area students will sit in, how many entry and exit points there should be, all these things should be followed and inspected from time to time. In case of any violation, strict action and fines should be imposed," Anand Kumar said.

"I am very sad and stand with the students. What you are doing for your friends is very good, but work calmly and also focus on your studies. If you see something like this in the future, oppose it immediately. I request coaching centres to provide compensation to the victims quickly and ensure such mistakes are not repeated in the future," he added.

"Students have become clients for coaching centres":

"Nowadays, most people have created marketing teams in coaching centres. I am surprised that when parents sell their land to educate their children, people there talk about them as clients while serving tea. Students have now become clients. These things have taken a very distorted form. I believe that there should be control over fees as well.

For this, the government should create a Coaching Act. Existing acts should be revised. The incident that has occurred should be met with the harshest punishment as soon as possible. There should be monthly inspections wherever such things are happening," Anand Kumar said.
