Prior to the death of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Children's Day was celebrated across the nation on November 20. United Nations observed the date as Universal Children's Day.

Children's Day is celebrated on November 14 every year as a tribute to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. It was done so because he was very popular with the kids.

He's fondly known as Chacha Nehru among children. Pandit Nehru advocated for children to have fulfilled the education.

The objective behind celebrating Children's Day is to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children.

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru admired and loved the children irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, culture or financial background. 

According to Pandit Nehru, children are the future of a nation and hence they must be nurtured and educated well.

About Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru is also known as Pandit Nehru. He was born on 14 November 1889 and served the nation till 27 May 1964.

Pandit Nehru was a graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge. Later Nehru moved to London and studied law at Inner Temple, where he trained to be a barrister. Upon his return to India, he enrolled himself as an advocate at the Allahabad High Court.

Pandit Nehru served the nation as prime minister for 18 years. From 1946, as the interim prime minister and from 1950 as the prime minister of the Republic of India.
