UPSC result 2019: Babar Ali Chagatta is Mahore's first to crack civil services exam

UPSC result 2019 update: Babar Ali Chagatta, from remote Mahore tehsil in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir,  has become the first person to crack the civil services examination from his hometown. He secured 364th and is among seven candidates from the state who qualified the prestigious examination.

Chagatta, who completed his schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Udhampur and graduation from the Aligarh Muslim University, gave credit for his success to his family.

“I lost my father early but my mother and brothers continued their support to ensure that I complete my studies,” he said.

Kanishak Kataria, a B. Tech graduate from IIT Bombay, has become the UPSC topper 2018. He qualified the examination with Mathematics as his optional subject.


Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, who secured fifth rank overall, is topper among women. While the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination was conducted in June, 1994 candidates had qualified for the Personality Test held in February-March 2019.


"A total number of 759 candidates have been recommended for appointment," read a notification on official website.
The commission conducted the UPSC Final Result 2018 on April 5, 2019.
