Next Education, a provider of digital education, today said it plans to hire 500 more people in 2013.
“Our total number of employees as of now are about 1,200 and hundreds more positions are in the pipeline. For the next year, we are planning to increase headcount to over 1,700,” Next Education Director of Academics Veena Raizada told PTI.
The Hyderabad-headquartered company is also looking at raising Rs 150 crore next year and is in discussion with private equity funds for the same.
Next Education has so far invested over Rs 250 crore in research, content development and rolling out pan-India operations and last year saw revenues of above Rs 100 crore, Raizada said.
Next Education offers technology-enabled learning solutions or digital curriculum to be used inside the classrooms for students up till Class 12.
It has partnered 5,000 schools across the country, catering to over four million students. Of these nearly 4,000 schools are from tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
“We are now focusing on Tier-II cities and less prominent regions from all corners of the country. We aim to cover 10,000 schools in the next four years,” she added.
The company, as of now, has no plans to introduce digital courses for colleges.
Next Education is also working on introducing maths lab and science lab to “offer multiple teaching and learning aids to explain various concepts”.
Maths lab will be launched in January and Science Lab in June, 2013.“Maths Lab has been made compulsory for all the affiliated schools by CBSE and soon Digital curriculum is expected to be made mandatory in our country,” Raizada said.
“The two labs will be a combination of hands-on activities, simulations, experiments and exercises. We already offer an English Lab. We also have a strong product pipeline for the next year, including fun-based activities,” she added.
