NEET Exam: Vernacular Question Papers Will Be Mere Translation Of English, Says Prakash Javedakar

Union human resource development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said that the vernacular question papers of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will be a mere translation of the question paper in English.

While Javadekar's remark comes after students complaint of tougher NEET question papers in regional languages than that in Hindi and English, the CBSE conducted NEET on May 7 in Hindi, English and 10 regional languages.

"The vernacular question papers for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) - the all-India entrance examination for entrance to medical colleges - will just be translation of the question paper in English", he told reporters in Kolkata.

However, the CBSE had set different sets of questions for students appearing for the examination in different languages for this year.

"From next year, there will be mere translation of papers so that such problems do not arise," Javadekar added.
