Lecture on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Vision of Integral Humanism by JMI

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a public lecture on ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Vision of Integral Humanism’ to mark the conclusion of his birth centenary celebrations on September 26, 2017.

Dipti Tripathi, formerly a Professor of Sanskrit with the University of Delhi, delivered the lecture.

She spoke about Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s vision of integrating political, cultural and economic life into a whole for holistic development of individuals and society.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya advocated a balanced development of mind intellect, soul and body of an individual, she added.

She echoed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s idea that the society is heavily dependent on individuals and the individuals are guided by the laws of nature as much as a nation.

Talking of ‘Dharma’, Tripathi said, that it refers to the cosmic laws that guided the world and human beings.

The term ‘Dharma’ stood much distorted and maligned ever since it got construed as religion as the former represented the eternal rules that guide human beings to virtuous action, she added.

The programme was organised under the aegis of Outreach Programme, JMI Girish Pant, Head, Department of Sanskrit, JMI proposed the vote of thanks. Earlier, Mukesh Ranjan, coordinator, outreach programme welcomed the guests and introduced the speaker to the audience.

The programme was well attended by students, staff and teachers from the varsity.
