Haryana Govt short of 500 doctors
There is a shortage of 500 doctors in Haryana, state Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday said, assuring that new recruitments would be made to overcome it.

After making a surprise inspection of the Kalpana Chawla Medical College and Hospital here, Vij said that about 34 hospitals in the state did not have any doctors.

"Doctors from other hospitals have been posted to overcome the shortage," he said, adding that a proposal for recruitment of para-medical staff on ad hoc basis was under consideration.

Deputation of 100 doctors in Chandigarh and other places outside the state has been cancelled and they have been called back to serve in their own state.

Vij said that the previous Congress government had issued licenses to some undeserving nursing institutes which were giving admission to the students and issuing them certificates to enable them to get jobs even though they knew nothing about the job.

"The matter is being inquired," he said. He directed the officials to issue birth and death certificates within a week. "I have my eyes set on the issue of proxy attendance and it will be dealt with in a strict manner", he added.
