Scholarship for 300 Girl Child, Rs 5000 For Education To be Provided Each Year

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) has launched the Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS) 2018-19. The applications are currently invited till October 31, 2018.

There are many schemes introduced for girls to uplift their status as well as to give them ample opportunities to be equal and compete with boys in every field. These schemes boost up their spirits and help them to reach the top.

SOF GCSS is a yearly scholarship programme for class 1 to 10.

It was introduced with an aim to provide financial support to girls from a poor background so that they are able to continue their studies without any hurdle.

The scholarship will be provided to 300 needy girls amounting Rs 5000 each for the year. Nomination forms will be sent to schools through which selection will be done.

Eligibility Criteria
- Any girl from class 1 to 10 in the country can fill the nomination form.
- Girl’s parents should not have a family income of more than 15000 per month
- The girl should at least have scored 60% marks in previous class

Benefits
Every year 300 girls are selected for this scholarship and are being provided Rs 5000 for the education of a year.

How to register?
The nomination forms will be sent to schools, which has to be filled and given in the national office of SOF by the school principal or teacher.

What’s the selection procedure?
Once the nomination forms are submitted to the SOF office the SOF committee will select the students.
After the selection is done the scholars will be informed and awarded by their school.

Important dates
The last date for nomination form submission will be October 31, 2018.
The last date for Scholarship distribution will be December 31, 2018.

Important Information
The form should be signed by the principal. It should be attached with the last year signed report card of the student.

A school can only send a nomination form for one student. Percentage criteria can be nullified in the case of a physically challenged student.

The government, as well as private sectors, are giving their contributions and support to the underprivileged students and are trying to uplift the society. This is another step to help the girls to rebuild their dreams and give them wings to fly in the open sky.
