Seeking explanation, the Ghaziabad district administration has served show-cause notices to 18 schools for hiking fees.
"The schools have been given 20 days to give their explanation. Till then no school will charge annual fee," said District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani said.
The report comes a week after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued showcause notice to schools for not sharing information on fees.
While the schools were asked to upload their admission details, fee structure and balance sheet on board's website by October last year, a fine will be imposed for not abiding the order.
"The fees should be commensurate with the facilities provided by the school and violations will be dealt with seriously," said a board official.
