Class IX/ XI Registration: CBSE Makes Aadhaar Number Mandatory

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular mentioning that Aadhaar number will be mandatory for students registering for Class IX and XI Board Examination. 

"All CBSE affiliated schools should register themselves before proceeding for online submission.  They can use the password and 'Affiliation Number' as user ID already available with them. Newly affiliated schools should contact the concerned Regional Office of the CBSE for obtaining password," pointed out the circular.  

CBSE has also has recently made Aadhaar mandatory for students appearing for UGC NET exam.

"The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect," read the official notice issued by CBSE.
