A University in Bhopal is introducing a Diploma course for ‘Adarsh Bahu’ (ideal daughter-in-law) from the next academic year.

The duration of this course will be three months with the subjects like sociology and psychology.

Indian families urge to marry their sons to a girl who follows culture, traditions, and prove to be an ideal daughter in law. So this responsibility is taken by a University in Bhopal.

The University will be offering this course for the girls to make them aware of the lives they will be living after marriage. It is believed that the move will empower the women.

30 girls will be admitted in the course for the first batch.

Earlier, Banaras based Fashion and Design Institute introduced a course on 'how to be an ideal daughter-in-law' named under “My daughter, My pride”. The reports of DNA shows the Vanita Institute of Fashion and Designs conducted a survey claiming 75% girls lacked confidence. Even well educated and self-dependent girls also fear about the life after their marriage.

Most of the girls want to work after marriage but are not aware of how to maintain the balance between families and work hence the course was announced.

“As a university, we have responsibilities towards society and should not be limited to academics. Our objective is to prepare such brides who will keep families intact," Vice-chancellor professor DC Gupta said to Times of India.

He further added "Our aim is to prepare girls to be in a better position to understand the dynamics of families. We can bring positive change in society,"

Earlier, there were reports on IIT-BHU introducing a diploma course for ‘Adarsh Bahu’ viral on social networking sites.

Then a few media reports claimed that the news was not authentic. It stated that the institute has denied starting any such course, terming reports “misleading”.
