645 teachers to be promoted as headmasters
Punjab government, in its effort to fill up the vacancy in education department, has decided to promote 645 teachers as headmasters by next month while recruitment of over 5,000 teachers will be completed by the end of this month.

Disclosing this here on Wednesday, an official spokesperson said direction to this effect was given by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with a delegation of Mulazam Wing Punjab led by its President-cum-Chairman Surinder Singh Pehalwan.

Responding to their demand for immediately filling up the vacant posts in the education department, the Principal Secretary Education apprised the Chief Minister that process to recruit 5,078 teachers would be completed by the end of this month.

Regarding the demand for providing registration facility for the veterinary inspectors in the state, the Chief Minister asked the Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry to thoroughly examine the case from all aspects.

To make state transport sector more efficient, the transport department will soon prepare a policy for the recruitment of conductors on contract basis, in a fair and transparent manner, besides inducting new buses in the existing fleet of PUNBUS and PRTC, said the spokesperson.

In response to another demand for regularising services of temporary employees who had completed ten years of service till 2006, the personnel department apprised Badal that barring two employees, rest have been already been regularised as per the policy and even the case of regularising the services of these two employees were also under process.

The Chief Minister also directed the Chairman of PSPCL to hold a separate meeting with the representatives of the association for early solution of the pending demands of employees associations related to power sector amicably.
