Uttar Pradesh Governor B.L. Joshi Friday laid emphasis on quality education and said merely constructing a beautiful building for an institute would not deliver the goods to society.
He said India would have to raise the level of education, employ good academicians and select students who are not money-minded if the country wished to make a mark against foreign competitors.
Joshi was speaking during a convocation function at the Centre for Management Development in Modinagar town, about 40 km from Delhi.
In his key note address, he added the Uttar Pradesh government was doing a lot for quality education but the results were not reflecting.
The chief guest asked industrialists to come forward to spread awareness about quality education in society.
"The time has come during this globalisation that if your students are competent enough to face a tough competition from foreign competitors, then the country would be able to stand on its own feet in employment generation. So, now employment-oriented education can make the country self-reliant in employment and other fields," he said.
