Raju gives cash award to 200 meritorious CBSE students
Over 200 meritorious students of CBSE-affiliated schools from across the country, who have scored high marks in various streams of Class 12th examination, were today awarded one-time cash reward of Rs one lakh each here.

HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju gave a total of Rs two crore as award to 200 students -- 50 each from Science, Commerce, Humanities and Vocational streams -- for securing high marks in Class 12th, officials said.

“Such ventures and awards of the Board put impetus on the actual merit of students instead of the face value of marks.

They help motivate students to take up higher education and not drop out of school,” Raju said while giving away the awards.

The awards are part of CBSE''s efforts to provide quality education to students.

“Such scholarships are incentives for students to take education more seriously and leverage it to develop themselves. They help inspire students to study further and focus on knowledge instead of marks,” CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said.
