The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) and French nuclear energy company Areva S.A. have agreed to collaborate in research and development projects, a statement said Friday.
The collaboration would include development of nuclear fuel cycle products and services, nuclear reactor design and construction, renewable energy and energy storage for deployment and industrialisation.
Areva S.A. would finance and support IIT-B's Ph.D. students who would work on these research and development projects through the grant fellowship agreement.
Areva S.A. is planning to construct two reactors at the proposed 9,900 MW Jaitapur Nuclear Power Project in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, 400 km south of Mumbai.
