Panjab University (PU) on Friday announced the launch of its official Twitter handle which will be used for sharing updates and important information regarding the university.
Social Activist and PU Alumna Dr Kiran Bedi and PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover launched the university's Twitter handle - @OfficialPU., said an official release here.
Bedi read out the first tweet in the function and announced the arrival of PU on this social medium. PU VC on this occasion said the University has always taken step ahead to stay connected with the students, teachers, alumni and others.
The handle would keep them informed about the university. He appealed the university fraternity, alumni and its well-wishers to follow the handle to stay connected with the university.
PU Director (Public Relations) Vineet Punia said the Twitter handle would provide another powerful medium of connecting with the tech-savvy young generation.
He informed that the official facebook page of the University is popular on the facebook. PU official facebook page was the first page of any Indian public University, which got verified by the facebook, he said.
The PU facebook page is followed by about 72,000 people, most of them young in the age group of 18 to 24 years, he said. Punia informed that the updates and important information regarding the university will be tweeted through the handle.
