The Union HRD ministry on Moday said that it was not be possible to conduct a spot round to fill up around 1,500 seats in NITs which were still vacant.
The ministry said that keeping in mind the Supreme Court directions in this regard it was not possible to conduct another spot round but from next year counselling would be carried out continuously till all vacant seats were filled up.
In a tweet, which was retweeted by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, the ministry said that it considered spot round for filling vacancies in NITs sympathetically.
"Since Supreme Court ordered no admission after Aug 15, this year no spot round was possible in NITs," the HRD ministry said in another tweet.
